Travel in Style to Dairyuji!

It is a real honor to be included in this beautiful commercial highlighting the unique qualities of Tohoku. In fact, I love Tohoku so much that I was willing to set my nerves aside and wear a kimono to support the Shiki-shima luxury train which is offering a new route to Tohoku.

When they asked me what I liked about Tohoku, I immediately thought of the intricate craftsmanship such as magewappa woodwork, kokeshi dolls and sashiko stitching. Such regional crafts are often rooted in functionality while still capturing a simple beauty that reflects the intentional lifestyle found in the fishing villages along the coasts, inland farming communities and wooded satoyama areas near the mountains.
