Lighthouse Circle 2024 begins next week.
Imagine a place where you can talk about your grief openly and honestly and be met with compassion and intelligence. This is the community we are cultivating here at Lighthouse Circle. We want people to know that there is a place to tend to your grief, whether old or new, without judgment. Together, we are creating a community that honors our losses, and witnesses our experiences with integrity, humility and candor.
First group calls on are either Tuesday, Jan. 23rd or Friday, Jan. 26th.
Lighthouse Circle begins next week. There are 6 monthly group calls on zoom, plus a companion online component that you can go through on your own with various prompts, activities and resources.
"We don't heal in isolation, but in community."
If it sounds a bit awkward or intimidating to join an online group around grief, rest assured the atmosphere is very welcoming. We protect everyone's confidentially and respect each other. We practice mindful listening and there is absolutely no pressure to talk or share anything you don’t want to. In fact, we value silence and the quiet presence of one another when there are no words. We never compare or minimize one another’s grief. We never give advice or try to fix one another. There is no dogmatic approach or belief that you must follow or accept. We also laugh more than might be expected.
The group is carefully co-facilitated by Sarah Furuya and Gretchen Miura. We created this circle because we saw a need for a supportive community that was dedicated to grief. We wanted to provide a place where people can show up as themselves and trust that they will be met with compassion. We are both deeply committed to this work and are intentional about how we collaborate bringing professional and complimentary skills to the group.
As a life coach, Sarah is open-minded and scientifically grounded, nimbly meeting whatever emotions or experiences emerge in the group. Sarah steadily keeps the container safe, fun and respectful.
Gretchen is meditation teacher and grief educator whose own losses from her childhood created the impetus for Lighthouse Circle. Gretchen honors both the sacred and the mundane, allowing everything to belong. She is currently grieving the death of her beloved mother with the support of the Lighthouse Circle community.
